Sessions are always one-on-one, and I do my best to ensure you feel comfortable and supported. A typical session will include various manual therapy techniques and education to facilitate and reinforce overall healing and wellness, including exercise prescription.

In addition to addressing the functional needs of my clients, I strive to support the healing process from a holistic perspective, which means involving the body, mind, and spirit as a whole, to achieve a sense of overall balance and wellness.
In terms of the different manual therapy techniques I use, these were all developed from traditional osteopathy. Osteopathy was founded in the 19th century, and is based on the awareness that the body can formulate its own remedies against ailments when all parts are in a normal structural relationship, in a normal environment, and it enjoys good nutrition. The goal is to maintain correct relationships between bones, muscles, and connective tissues.
Our bodies have a number of inherent rhythms. Rhythm is motion, and motion is freedom. However, in motion things can, in a sense, collide and obstruct each other from their natural rhythmic motion. Often times this is referred to as restriction. That motion restriction can lead to injury in places anywhere due to our interconnected system of fascia, the connective tissue. There is health always present in our systems. By restoring freedom of movement, we restore health and potential for healing.
What is special about this work is that it is so subtle, yet highly effective. Everyone receives and responds differently to it. Each session is unique as well. When we find the exact place of restriction, the most subtle pressure is used- usually less than or equal to the weight of a nickel for most techniques. These very subtle manipulations allow tissues to release their restriction, restore motion, and let go of holding patterns.

The potential is what excites me. There is so much healing potential that always exists in our bodies. I am still constantly amazed at how effective the manual therapeutic work is despite how subtle the pressure is. The longer I practice, the more it makes sense that the focus is always on gentleness and health, as that is what leads to healing and feeling whole.

Yes, I have been offering sessions remotely with really good results. This may be helpful for clients who are not nearby or prefer to have a session in the comfort of their home. The results are an ease in tension, calmness, and dissipation of blockages in the tissues.

Most insurance companies do cover physical therapy services. Some may cover by paying for a percentage of the cost, or by designating the number of visits they will cover per calendar year. I can help guide you through this process.
